Exif modified - yes/no?
--
John

Hi guys!
My question goes more to whether it is possible to check if Exif has been modified/altered. I want to make myself sure that when I see a pic and look at it's Exif (especially creation dates), it is not modified and if it is, what was the software in use. Most of us usually associate the existence of Exif data with authenticity of certain image. And I believe this question could bother many minds.
So is it possible to check that with any of your products and if not maybe you can give any hints to any other tool?
Thank you.

If you are familiar with Exif standard, you can find the traces in Exif data if the Exif data in image has been edited.
Convert filenames TO Exif

Everyone converts Exif data to rename a file, but I have hundreds of files that have been renamed to describe the photo. Now I want to add the filename to the Exif comments file. Does PowerExif do this? Thanks,
Henri

I want to do the same to keep a record of the original image name (as out the camera) before any other process. I can archive an untouched version of my images as fall back if something goes wrong in later process. Is there a tag exif or iptc that suit this purpose? Thanks

My Konica Minolta A200 produces jpeg files with the suffix .jpe when Adobe RGB is selected. Is there any way that I can right click on a .jpe file in Windows Explorer and obtain Exif data the same as I can for .jpg files?
I can access the data from the main program, but not from Windows Explorer.

You can change the suffix .jpe to standard suffix .jpg or .jpeg.
Extended ASCII problem

Characters from the extended ASCII-table is not displayed correctly. I think the problem is with the encoding, it needs to be UTF8 to work. (the strange characters in my image should be City Jönköping and Province state: Småland)

Hi. Nice program, but, it changes the filetype of jpg files to "iExif image" in the registry which messes up my other shell extensions I use for jpgs. Please just add a open command to the current file type instead of creating a new filetype.

so it changes .jpgs to .iexif?
is that correct?

If I open a jpeg file from my canon 1ds, I get a lot of data, but I do not see something resembling actuation count. Where can I find this? Or do I have to make a calculation?

Hi - I just purchased the standard version of editor when I needed to purchase the pro model. All my photo files are TIFF format - so, if I read correctly, I can only edit the TIFF files with your PRO version. Is that correct? Please tell me how to upgrade.

Download and install IExifViewer, take a JPEG image with the Nikon D50. Transfer the JPEG to your computer and right mouse click on the image and select "view EXIF/GPS?ITPC with IExifViewer" and scroll down to the "MakerNote (Nikon)" section and look for the entry labeled, tag00A7:
Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera
The value will be the number of shoots taken with the camera since the last factory reset.
